Job Summary

FT Nights (36 hours/wk) Phlebotomist
Salary Range: $20.25 - $36.00. Pay is based on experience.
$3,000 Sign-On Bonus PLUS Shift Differentials

Summary

Essential Functions:
  • Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
  • Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
  • May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order, and common operational issues within the work area.
  • Provides training and education to new staff and students.
  • Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Works fluently with computer programs and systems and complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other tests, administrative duties, and specimen collection as assigned.

ExperienceExperience in phlebotomy 1-2 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Demonstrates proficiency in proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens, including correct tube selection, volume, and stability requirements. - Possesses good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects. - Superior customer service skills, with the ability to show empathy and respect for patients' privacy and autonomy. - Demonstrates problem-solving skills and can manage complex patient collections. - Works independently and collaborates effectively within a team, actively partnering with team members by fostering a collaborative work environment and respecting individuals with varied experiences and perspectives.
