• Obtains quality blood specimens via capillary and venipuncture.
• Performs, interprets and reports point-of-care testing (e.g. glucose) and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient identification and specimen labeling according to standard operating procedures.
• Understands phlebotomy processes and techniques to obtain quality blood specimens.
• Performs point-of-care testing (e.g. glucose) and quality control.
• Processes laboratory and patient reports according to standard operating procedures.
• Recognizes problems, documents actions, and follows protocol to notify supervisor.
• Communicates to manage priority requests and maintain workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet department needs.
