Job summary

Freeman Health System is recruiting a PRN Phlebotomist in Springdale, AR, to perform venipunctures, collect specimens, and ensure accurate entry of collection data into our lab system. You will identify patients and follow established collection procedures in a fast-paced clinical setting.

• Phlebotomy training or in-house training within 6 months of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and specimen collection.
• Identifies patients and follows proper collection procedures.
• Enters all specimen data into the laboratory system with time drawn, time received, and correct codes.
• Collects chain of custody urine drug screens and picks up samples from nursing units as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.

What You'll Do

Performs venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. Ensures that all information from the blood collection of specimens is entered into the laboratory computer system including time drawn, time received, and proper phlebotomy code. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens. Picks up samples from nursing units as required. Performs other related functions as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• Previous phlebotomy training or receive in house/on the job phlebotomy training within 6 months of hire
