Job summary

Freeman Health System in Springdale, AR seeks a Medical Technologist Generalist for the Core Lab to perform a range of tests across chemistry, hematology, UA, coagulation, blood bank, and basic microbiology. The role requires adherence to quality control and participation in teaching staff and students.

The position is full-time with a 36-hour week, including shifts from 6:00am to 6:30pm and every third weekend, offering comprehensive benefits and career growth within Freeman’s integrated

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Ability to learn and teach new staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluids.
• Ensure accuracy with strict quality control program and instrument checks.
• Conduct instrument function checks and preventative maintenance as per policies.
• Maintain records and statistics per regulatory requirements.
• Teach new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures.
• Collect chain of custody urine drug screens as required.
• Assist in all laboratory areas to support patient care.

• Medical Technologist Generalist, Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology, UA, Coagulation, Blood Bank, and minimal Microbiology (plating and stat gram stains)

What You'll Do

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• Possesses problem solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job

• Demonstrates good time management and organizational skills

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's in medical technology from an accredited institution

• One year acute care experience

• MT/MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA), HEW or equivalent certification
