The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

PRN float phlebotomist for IU Health North (Carmel), West (Avon), and Saxony (Fishers). The hours are flexible but will be approximately 5:45am-2:00pm based on schedule needs.

The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens as well as related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal incumbent will possess strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

  • Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science preferred.
  • May require a valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving history for the last three years.
  • Understanding of traffic laws in the State of Indiana is preferred.
  • Proven understanding of computers is required.
  • Excellent telephone skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team are essential.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods is necessary.
