UP Health System Portage in Hancock, MI is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our General Laboratory on a PRN, varied-shift basis. You will review orders, collect blood and other specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and specimen integrity in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma; phlebotomy certification is preferred, along with BLS/BCLS. This role supports patient care across departments and contributes to quality testing and timely results.

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Mansioni

• Review providers' orders and collect specimens per protocol.
• Verify patient identity before collection.
• Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick.
• Label specimens with identifiers and date/time.
• Perform urine drug screen collections and breath alcohol testing per policy.
• Coordinate therapeutic drug-monitoring collections with nursing.
• Resolve unclear orders by contacting the provider or supervisor.
• Route specimens to correct lab departments or reference labs.
• Maintain collection supplies and participate in inventories.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and other duties as assigned.
