Job summary

Medical City Plano in Texas is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to join our laboratory team on a 3:00am to 1:30pm shift. You will greet patients, perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and other specimen collections, label and route specimens, and prepare samples for multiple departments while providing courteous patient experience.

This role requires a HS diploma or GED, at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience or certification, and a current BLS.

Qualifications

• HR diploma or GED required
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience
• Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred
• Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments
• You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
