Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Hoover, Alabama, is hiring a Phlebotomist to join a team focused on donor care and community service. This full-time role involves collecting blood, registering donors, and ensuring donor eligibility with attention to accuracy and safety.

You will operate with a strong emphasis on customer service, teamwork and compliance with SOPs. A varied schedule including nights and weekends is required; benefits are provided for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and LifeSouth eligibility.
• Proficient in a variety of computer software applications.
• Excellent teamwork and written/spoken communication skills.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to SOP.
• Collect blood using automated instruments (once trained).
• Register donors for blood collection in the LifeSouth system (IBBIS).
• Determine donor eligibility based on interview and physical process.
• Accurately identify donors throughout donation process.
• Assist in recruitment, tele-recruitment and rescheduling of donors.
• Convert donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.
