Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital invites applications for a Phlebotomist role. The successful candidate will perform venipuncture and capillary collections for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring proper patient identification and accurate data entry.

Responsibilities include specimen labeling, transport, communication with teams, and adhering to regulatory standards. High school diploma and PBT certification/ASCP preferred to support clinical lab operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy technician certification (ASCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens following approved techniques.
• Identify patients before collection and provide instructions.
• Complete patient registration and test order data entry as required.
• Label, transport, or store specimens accurately.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
• Interpret test orders to determine collection timing and specimen type.
• Perform point-of-care testing per standards.
• Assist with records maintenance for regulatory compliance.
