Altoona Regional Health System seeks a full-time phlebotomist to join UPMC Physician Services at Altoona Regional Health Services. You will perform venipuncture, heelstick and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients, and support clerical duties within the laboratory.

Under Medical Technologists supervision, you will handle specimen transport, entry of patient data, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program preferred.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally; respond to inquiries.
• Procure blood specimens by venipuncture, heelstick and fingerstick; educate patients on procedures.
• Transport specimens to the appropriate section of the laboratory.
• Enter demographic information and test orders into the information system; manage sample identity.
• Trains and orients new employees and students as applicable.
• Share information with technical staff and pathologists about unusual incidents.
