Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is hiring a Phlebotomist to join a team of medical professionals at the Alabama Department of Corrections - William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama. This full-time days position offers the chance to work with a diverse patient population in a correctional setting.

You will collect blood and other specimens, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with correctional officers and medical staff to provide essential healthcare services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy technician training program.
• Proficiency in blood collection techniques, strong communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and finger sticks on patients, adhering to safety protocols.
• Labels specimens accurately, processes them for testing, and operates centrifuges.
• Verifies patient identity, explains procedures to reduce anxiety, and ensures patient comfort.
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment, restocks supplies, and manages hazardous waste according to OSHA/CLIA standards.
• Enters patient information and test orders into databases and requisitions.
