Job summary

McFarland Clinic in Ames is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Family Medicine East department. The role collects specimens, prepares and dispatches them for testing, and provides exceptional patient care.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, formal phlebotomy training or experience, and current BLS for Health Care Providers. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a comprehensive benefits package. Pre-employment drug screen and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or HiSET.
• Formal phlebotomy training or experience required.
• Prefer certification in phlebotomy.
• Current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers.
• Mandatory Reporting of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse.

Responsibilities

• Collect and receive specimens for testing.
• Prepare and dispatch specimens for testing.
• Perform receptionist duties and collect blood samples by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick.
• Obtain urine and other specimens from patients.
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties as needed.
• Stock and maintain supplies; keep work area clean.
• Attend required meetings and participate on committees as requested.
• Perform related work as required.
