Job summary

Oroville Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection under supervision. The role requires completion of a formal phlebotomy program with 60 hours of didactic and 60 hours of clinical experience, plus prior phlebotomy experience.

Candidates must have a California Phlebotomy License or eligibility for certification and current BLS certification. Strong patient identification and specimen handling skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program with at least 60 hours didactic and 60 hours clinical
• Prior experience as a phlebotomist
• Current California Phlebotomy License or eligibility for certification
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Identify correct in-patients of all ages by name and MRN before drawing
• Identify correct out-patients by having patient state full name and cross-checking
• Draw blood properly using established procedures with accuracy
• Label specimens accurately and record collection times
• Process and handle lab requisitions and specimens for routine and reference tests
• Maintain phlebotomy areas neat, stocked, and compliant with universal precautions
• Assist in orientation of new staff and communicate with lab personnel as needed
