Job summary

WellMed in North Richland Hills, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant to draw blood, perform in-house tests, and prepare specimens for reference lab. Hours are Mon-Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM at 7640 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, TX.

The role includes rooming patients, data entry, basic lab work, and adherence to confidentiality. Qualifications include HS diploma and national certification eligibility within 180 days; 1+ year related experience is preferred, with additional QA/testing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current National certification or registration as Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• 1+ years related experience preferred.
• 6+ months experience performing routine blood and urine tests.
• 6+ months experience in equipment and testing to perform quality control checks.
• Basic computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products.
• Performs venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe and butterfly techniques; capillary punctures on patients.
• Conducts designated laboratory testing.
• Instructs patients on urine collection procedures.
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area.
• Inventories supplies and places orders.
• Enters laboratory data into computer system.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Monitors biohazard waste.
• Ensures preventive maintenance is performed on equipment.
• Responds timely to abnormal values.
• Maintains knowledge of container volumes for specimen collection.
• Rooming patients.
• Assists with incoming and outgoing calls.
• Performs point of care testing.
