Software Placement Group is seeking a Phlebotomist for a float contract in the North Charleston, SC area. The role covers multiple locations and requires travel between Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville, and Walterboro.

You will perform blood draws, label and transport specimens, and ensure patient comfort while following physician orders and OSHA regulations. This on-site role runs 6am-5pm, Monday–Friday, for about three months with potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience.
• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to travel to all listed float locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients clearly.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders and match requisitions to tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain sample integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Travel to multiple locations including Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville, and Walterboro.

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist for a float position covering multiple locations in the North Charleston, SC area. This is a contract role with a projected 3-month duration and potential for permanent placement, supporting patient specimen collection across several regional sites.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy
• Package specimens for transport, store samples at required temperatures, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Travel to multiple locations including Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville, and Walterboro, SC

Required qualifications

• Pediatric and geriatric experience required
