Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of overall work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data.
  • Collect and store specimens according to procedures.
  • Explain venipuncture process to patients clearly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight or butterfly needles.
  • Follow physicians\' orders and match requisitions to specimens.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, centrifugation, and specimen handling as required by orders.
  • Package specimens for transport meeting temperature and container protocols.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual training.
  • Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed.

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract engagement in Ocala, FL, projected to last 3 months with potential for permanent hire. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and smooth laboratory workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What you'll do
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport, following proper temperature and container protocols to maintain specimen integrity
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department training sessions
  • Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
Required qualifications
