Zaddy Solutions is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role covering Glen Burnie, MD and surrounding areas. The position involves 6AM–7PM shifts, one Saturday per month, and a float assignment with mileage reimbursement. Expected duration is 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

The role requires pediatric and geriatric venipuncture experience, valid phlebotomy certification, and a clean driving record. Home base will be the closest office, with coverage in multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required in the employed state.
• Minimum of 5 work experiences performing venipunctures in fast-paced labs or hospitals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate phlebotomy technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physician orders and match lab requisitions to specimens.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Package specimens for transport and ensure proper storage temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings and answer inquiries.

The candidates home base will be the office closest to where they live. The areas of coverage will be Baltimore City, Glen Burnie and Columbia- not a guarantee they will go to all these locations, may have to cover Clarksburg, Frederick and Olney.

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
• Package specimens for transport
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital settingProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• minimum 2 years of experience
