Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position with potential to become permanent. The role covers Baltimore City, Glen Burnie and Columbia with possible additional sites such as Clarksburg, Frederick and Olney. It is a float position with mileage reimbursement and requires pediatric and geriatric experience.

Shift is 1st shift, 6 AM to 7 PM, M-F, with one Saturday per month; 8-hour shifts. A clean driving record and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state
• Minimum 5 years venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital
• High School Diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation with clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
• Package specimens for transport
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Schedule: 1st Shift 6AM to 7PM M-F and will be required to cover 1 Saturday shift a month. Shifts will be 8 hours so depending on the location may start as early as 6AM or end as late as 7PM

Summary:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital settingProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• minimum 2 years of experience
