Job summary

Position: Phlebotomist 5784 in Youngstown, OH. This contract role runs about 2 to 3 months with a schedule of Mon, Tue, Thu 7-5; Wed 8-6; Fridays off. Experience required: 1 to 2 years. You will be working alone in a GYN office performing blood draws and specimen handling.

Qualifications

• Ability to collect blood samples, label specimens and maintain patient information.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.


• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
