Job summary

Aspire Talent Solutions in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist for a short-term contract at a gynecologic office. Schedule: Mon Tue Thu 7–5, Wed 8–6, Fridays off. Projected duration: 2 to 3 months. Experience: 1–2 years. You will work independently in the clinic setting.

Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, data entry, and ensuring proper transport and handling of specimens.

Qualifications

• Experience performing blood draws and venipuncture.
• Ability to label and process specimens accurately.
• Familiarity with centrifugation and specimen handling.
• Data entry and record-keeping in a clinical setting.

• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders.
• Matches laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Stores specimen samples according to required temperature.

Description

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.


• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.


• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.


• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.


• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.


• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.


• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.


• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.


• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.


• Minimum of 1 year experience
