Job summary

Markent Personnel seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Gahanna, OH. The schedule is 8:30am–5:00pm on Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri and 8:30am–8:00pm on Thu. The position runs for an estimated 3 to 4 months, with benefits available.

The successful candidate will perform phlebotomy duties, assist with specimen handling, labeling, centrifuging and maintaining patient data, while ensuring accuracy and safety in all procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience is required.
• Ability to properly label and track specimens.
• Comfort with handling patient interactions during blood draws.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to samples.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and transport appropriately.
• Minimum of 1 year experience.

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.
