Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Vista, CA, with potential to convert to permanent placement. The position requires on-site work, shifts between 6AM and 6PM, and occasional weekends.

Mileage reimbursement is provided for float assignments. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Phlebotomy certification, have 1–4 years of experience, and be proficient with MS Office.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify test requisitions for accuracy.
• Package and store specimens per protocol to maintain integrity during transport.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Float to other locations as needed; mileage expenses reimbursed.
• Rotate weekend coverage, typically one weekend per month.

What you’ll do

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for accuracy
• Package and store specimens per required temperature and protocol to maintain integrity during transport
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information and maintain accurate records
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department training sessions
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Float to other locations as needed, with mileage expenses reimbursed
• Rotate weekend coverage, typically one weekend per month
