The position is full-time, on-site with an 8-hour shift and occasional weekend rotation. The ideal candidate has a state phlebotomy certification, 6 months of venipuncture experience, proficiency with MS Office, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) using straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and required temperatures.
• Package and transport specimens while maintaining specimen integrity per protocol.
• Record maintenance data, perform decontamination, and update patient information.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Float to other locations as needed, with mileage expenses paid.
