The role you’ll contribute:

The Phlebotomist I is responsible for collecting blood samples using standard venipuncture and microtainer techniques. Receives laboratory specimens, processes samples for testing, and performs clerical and client service functions as requested.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Ability to perform venipuncture and microtainer collection.
• Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received.
• Prioritize routine specimen receipt in the laboratory on a "first in – first out" basis.
• Prioritize Stat and Alert specimens before routine orders.
• Follow safety policies, including PPE use, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling. Understand and adhere to the Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies. May include transporting hazardous waste, requiring initial and refresher training on proper handling and disposal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED:

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
• Six months of phlebotomy experience.
