Job summary

Better Health Group in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Phlebotomist to efficiently collect blood specimens and provide a positive patient experience. You will report to the Lab Supervisor and collaborate with department teams to deliver accurate results and caring service.

Responsibilities include venipuncture and capillary punctures, proper labeling, patient education, documentation, infection control, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare operations including EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients.
  • Ensure the proper collection and labeling of blood specimens according to established protocols.
  • Greet and interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Explain the blood collection process to patients, address their concerns, and provide a supportive environment.
  • Accurately document patient information and specimen details.
  • Maintain organized and complete records of all phlebotomy activities.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines during blood collection procedures.
  • Follow established protocols to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of phlebotomy equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff to facilitate the timely processing of specimens.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Position Objective

The Phlebotomist has a technical role and is responsible for efficiently and accurately collecting blood specimens from patients, ensuring a positive patient experience. The incumbent will report to the Lab Supervisor (or similar role) and will work closely with department team members and leaders to deliver exceptional 5-star patient care.

Position Requirements/ Skills
  • Highschool degree or equivalent required
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program
  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
  • Working knowledge with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare operations including electronic medical records
Physical Requirements
  • Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have own means of transportation
  • Must be able to lift at least 15lbs at times

Pay Range

USD $17.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
