Job summary

Toledo Clinic at our West Sylvania Location is seeking a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture, label specimens, and register patients. You will work under the Administrative Laboratory Manager and support satellite locations with accurate, timely specimen collection.

Responsibilities include documenting HIPAA compliance, handling ABN and billing scans, and maintaining safety standards in a fast-paced clinic setting. Travel to satellite sites is required.

Qualifications

• One to two years of phlebotomist experience.
• Register patients and collect specimens.

• Travel to satellite locations as needed.

General Summary

Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients.

Works under the supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
• Asks and records pertinent information (such as hours patient has been fasting) or for drug levels records the time of the patient's last dosage.
• Obtains the proper specimen for test(s) ordered.
• Properly labels all specimens.
• Properly instructs patients on specimen collection.
• Must be able to Register Patients.
• Must be able to scan ABN, Billing and HIPPA documentation.
• Knows, understands and adheres to HIPPA policies.
• Knows, understands and adheres to all laboratory, Clinic and/or OSHA safety standards.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Drive to Satellite locations and be available for any other drawing opportunity.
• Must know all aspects of each satellite location, what needs to accomplished and know it needs to be completed.

Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To

• Correctly processes specimens which will include use of centrifuge and make sure STAT specimens are processed correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school.
