Job summary

Hillcrest Hospital Pryor is seeking a Laboratory professional specialized in phlebotomy to join our team. You will perform venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, and specimen processing while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

In this role you will provide compassionate, patient-centered care, communicate effectively with care teams, and ensure specimens are collected and transported according to protocol to support accurate diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals preferred.
  • Certification from recognized agency (CPT, PBT, RPT, NCPT, ACA or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (venous and capillary) as assigned.
  • Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues to foster a cooperative environment.
  • Ensure specimens are obtained and labeled according to laboratory guidelines.
  • Communicate pertinent patient/lab information to care providers.
  • Follow protocols for specimen packaging and transport and for accessioning as assigned.
  • Demonstrate infection control practices and proper patient identification.

  • Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.

  • Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.
  • Perform proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned.
  • Answers laboratory department phone calls.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately.
  • Provides phlebotomy services in a professional and patient centered manner.
  • Engages in self‑evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to:
    • National Healthcareer Association - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA)
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology - Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP)
    • American Medical Technologists - Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT)
    • National Center for Competency Testing - National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT)
    • American Certification Agency - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)
  • Experience working in the clinical setting
