Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Phlebotomist II to collect blood specimens and support lab operations. You will handle venipuncture, patient interactions, and EPIC registration while ensuring accuracy and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a phlebotomy program and at least 6 months of experience, with strong customer service and computer skills to navigate lab systems and inventory management.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Phlebotomy program.
  • 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Knowledge of venipuncture techniques.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good keyboarding skills; able to learn lab systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collect venous and capillary blood specimens from patients per policy.
  • Process specimens and maintain inventory; assist with dispatch scheduling.
  • Register patients in EPIC and support lab workflow.
  • Interact with patients professionally and ensure safety and accuracy.

Shift Detail: 5am-1:30pm or 5am-9am weekend & holiday rotations required 5am-1:30pm

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for collecting venous and capillary blood specimens from patients in a safe and accurate manner according to established lab policies and practices. In combination with regular phlebotomist duties, additional duties includes but not limited to proficiencies in specimen processing, maintaining inventory, dispatch scheduling and EPIC registration. These responsibilities requires patient contact.

Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Or, successful completion of Phlebotomy program
  • 6 months of phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of venipuncture techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude
  • Good keyboarding skills with ability to learn various laboratory application and HHC computer systems
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate required lab equipment including pneumatic tube
