Qualifications

  • Experience in research is preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification is necessary.

As the Phlebotomist / Research Care Associate you will draw blood and other related clinical duties for patients enrolled on clinical trials .

You will a ccess, flush, and de-access ports

You will perform peripheral and port lab draws

You will obtain blood and other samples, vital signs, and EKGs from patients

You will prepare study supplies/source documents necessary for obtaining lab samples prior to patient treatment

You will u tilize electronic medical record (EMR) for source documentation

You will verify of all prepared lab kits against EMR

You will report all known regimen issues to the Protocol Excellence team for correction

You will a ssist in Tennessee Oncology Infusion Room with collection of blood and other samples, vital signs, and EKGs from patients

You will a ssist physicians with procedures, as needed

You will a ssist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), as needed ( i.e. bathroom, relocating within the clinic, etc.)

You will perform buccal swabs on pharmacokinetics (PK) patients

You will be r esponsible for collection of all pharmacokinetic blood draws on patients in the hospital

You will complete and submit FMLA paperwork .

You will perform Guardant 360, Myriad, and Tempus collections and complete all necessary paperwork for submission. You will ship these tests.

You will be r esponsible for delivering STAT labs to the CMC laboratory for processing

You will track and document tumor lesion photos for all required patients

You will respond to queries generated from study sponsor and contract lab regarding patient/sample data

You will i nterface with Tennessee Oncology and CMC laboratory colleagues regarding labs for research patients

You will ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patients’ visits

You should have for this position

High school diploma, preferably a Technical School Certification in phlebotomy/lab

Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and bodily fluids

Knowledge of HIPAA

Experience with venipuncture and Blood Processing

Experience with EKG Collections

Experience with port Accessing, Flushing, and De-Accessing

Experience in research is preferred

Current BLS Certification
