Qualifications

  • Must meet applicable state and local requirements for phlebotomy practice.
  • 1 year of phlebotomy or healthcare experience preferred.
  • BLS certification (AHA) required; CMA preferred.
  • FQHC experience is a plus.

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Phlebotomist is responsible for safely collecting, labeling, and handling blood specimens for laboratory testing while providing compassionate and respectful care to patients. They verify patient information, explain the blood-draw process, follow infection-control and safety procedures, maintain accurate records, and keep the work area clean and organized. They also work closely with healthcare and laboratory staff while supporting the nonprofit’s mission of providing quality, accessible care to underserved communities. This position is scheduled from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Physical Requirement
  • Physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 25 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time is required.
