Job summary

Baptist Health Clinical Lab and Pathology Department is seeking a Phlebotomist for part-time second shift on weekends in Lexington, KY. You will collect blood samples, accession specimens in the LIS, and ensure accurate patient identification and data recording.

The role requires BLS certification and a focus on compassionate, precise care across age groups in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the laboratory.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Identifies patients and specimens correctly from beginning of process to release of results.
• Accessions specimens into the Laboratory Information System, accurately recording pertinent data to be used by the physician in the interpretation of tests results.
• Collect blood samples by appropriate method on premature babies to geriatric patients utilizing prescribed safety and infection control procedures to protect the patient and the phlebotomist.
• Investigates, documents and follows up on customers’ concerns, inquiries and provides prompt, polite customer service.
