Description:

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the laboratory.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration, and takes appropriate action.
• Identifies patients and specimens correctly from beginning of process to the release of results.
• Accessions specimens into the Laboratory Information System, accurately recording pertinent data for use by the physician in interpreting test results.
• Collects blood samples by appropriate method on patients ranging from premature babies to geriatrics, utilizing prescribed safety and infection control procedures to protect patients and staff.
• Investigates, documents, and follows up on customer concerns and inquiries, providing prompt and polite customer service.
