PART TIME Phlebotomist/Paramedical Examiner
Our Business
American Para Professional Systems, Inc. (APPS) is the nation’s leading provider of mobile life/disability insurance exam services. With over 100 offices across the country, we have an impeccable reputation for completing high-quality work in a professional manner.
How We Work
When an individual decides to purchase a life and/or disability insurance policy, one of the most common requirements is medical screening. This medical screening must be performed by an independent contractor who is in no way associated with the insurance company. APPS works in conjunction with the insurance company to get this exam completed.
The Health Screening
As an Independent Contractor/Examiner with APPS, you will perform health screenings at the client’s home, workplace, agent’s office, or an APPS office, based on convenience. Some health screenings include a medical history questionnaire/interview, similar to an annual physical. You will document the client’s medical history, illnesses, injuries, surgeries, medications, and provider contact details.
You will also measure physical parameters such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and hip/waist measurements. Blood, urine, and occasionally saliva samples will be collected. Venipuncture is performed with a vacutainer, collecting two tubes. Phlebotomy skills are essential, and training can be provided if needed.
From time to time, you may be asked to perform an EKG with a portable machine, which we can train you to operate if necessary. After the exam, you'll prepare samples for shipping and complete the paperwork. The health screening typically takes 15 to 45 minutes.
