Job summary

Southern TN Regional Health System – Lawrenceburg, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Phlebotomist for full‑time day shifts. You will review orders, register patients, obtain blood specimens, and ensure proper labeling and handling in collaboration with the lab team.

You will verify patient identity, perform chain-of-custody urine tests, and support therapeutic drug monitoring. A phlebotomy certification and BCLS are preferred or required per policy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review providers’ orders, quick-register patients when needed, and place appropriate lab orders per the provider’s requisition.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers prior to collection.
• Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick; collect urine, throat, and nasal specimens as ordered.
• Label specimens with two identifiers plus date/time and collector initials; ensure specimen integrity.
• Perform chain-of-custody urine drug screen collections and breath alcohol testing per policy.
• Coordinate therapeutic drug-monitoring collections with nursing to align dose and draw time.
• Resolve unusual or unclear test orders by contacting the ordering provider or supervisor as needed.
• Process and route specimens to correct lab departments or reference laboratories.
• Maintain par levels of collection supplies; complete weekly inventories.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and required education; perform other duties as assigned.

How you’ll contribute

• Process and route specimens to the correct internal lab departments or reference laboratories according to policy.
• Maintain par levels of collection supplies; complete weekly departmental inventories.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and required education; perform other duties as assigned.

STRHS-Lawrenceburg, formerly Crockett Hospital, is a 99‑bed, acute care facility located in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, 85 miles south of Nashville.

We have been providing the best healthcare in Lawrence County and surrounding counties in Southern Middle Tennessee since 1974. We expanded the facility and services in 1991 with the addition of an Outpatient Surgery Unit, a state‑of‑the‑art 24‑hour physician‑staffed Emergency Department, and an Intensive Care Unit. The hospital opened a 10‑bed Physical Rehabilitation Unit in 1997, and a women’s Health Center in 1999. Diagnostic imaging services include in‑house MRI, Nuclear Medicine, CT, X‑ray, Digital Mammography and Ultrasound. The Rehabilitation Unit provides Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies. In 2009, a $5.6 million construction was completed which expanded the Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery Unit and Registration area.
