Job Summary

Perform phlebotomy procedures on all patients including pediatric patients. Perform finger-stick collections on pediatric patients when ordered. Collect urine, mucus or swabs for laboratory testing. Maintain a pleasant working environment for all staff.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Explain blood draw procedures to patients and answer any questions about the process.
  • Help calm nervous or frightened patients and help them remain calm during the procedure.
  • Gather medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, tubes, etc.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.
  • Verify patient information and label all samples properly.
  • Perform phlebotomy successfully with minimal or no complications.
  • Collect other laboratory samples such as urine, nasal swabs, etc.
  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Work well in a fast-paced setting.
  • Keep work area and patient waiting area clean, organized and presentable.
  • Help problem solve patient issues.
  • Be organized.
  • Be detail oriented.
Experience
  • Must have phone skills and pleasant phone voice; customer service oriented; some computer skills; able to work independently and multi-task; perform well under pressure; able to work at a fast pace.
