QUEST DIAGNOSTICS INC. is seeking a Phlebotomist I in Grand Rapids, MI.

The role supports specimen collection, lab processing, and data entry in a fast-paced clinical setting with standard hours Monday and Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and alternating Saturdays 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The position requires a high school diploma and preference for phlebotomy certification; experience in customer service and data entry is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, WA.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures.
• Administer oral solutions per training.
• Navigate lab tech systems to verify orders and enter data.
• Obtain ID and enter billing information as required.
• Process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, preparing for transport).
• Perform non-patient facing duties (inventory, sanitation, filing, phones, email).
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and comply with policies.

Phlebotomist I - Grand Rapids, MI, Monday and Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Variable hours), with every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
