Job summary

West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine in Deland, FL is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist to join our growing Primary Care office. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional Saturday coverage. You will work with a dynamic team specializing in Family and Sports medicine.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen handling, documentation, and maintaining a clean work area. Prior clinical experience and strong organizational skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification or diploma preferred.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting or medical technician role.
• Excellent interpersonal and multitasking skills; able to work in a fast-paced team.

• Collect and organize blood, tissue, and other bodily fluid samples from patients
• Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
• Transport samples to our in house lab from another office

Job description

West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine is actively seeking a qualified Phlebotomist to join our growing Primary Care office in Deland FL. This is a full-time position. Hours are 6:30-3pm Mon- Friday with occasional Saturday coverage. You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team focusing in the areas of Family and Sports medicine.

General Duties include:

• Performs phlebotomy using proper technique and universal precautions.
• Ensures lab specimens are sent to proper labs.
• Documents patient care services utilizing daily logs, patient records, and appropriate outside laboratory forms.
• Comforts patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, providing support
  
• Collect and organize blood, tissue, and other bodily fluid samples from patients
• Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
• Properly record results for further analysis and easy reference
• Monitor inventory samples and supplies
• Maintain a clean work environment
• Work under the supervision of a medical technologist
• Transport samples to our in house lab from another office

Experience:

• Phlebotomy: 1 year
• Previous experience as a clinical technician or in other relatedfields
• Familiarity with common medical terminology
• Experience in alaboratory setting
• Strong organizational skills

An ideal candidate will have excellent time management and organizational skills. This position requires independent judgment as well as the ability to work closely with a team of clinicians. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills; capable of multi-tasking and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment; computer and telephone skills required.
