  • Supports quality assurance initiatives and follows hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with inventory monitoring, supply management, and training of new employees and students.
  • Provides excellent customer service and responds promptly to patient and departmental needs.

BHCOR-Laboratory I Corbin, KY

Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin's patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities.

The phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collections, accessioning, labeling and transport of specimens; while optimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.

Description:
  • Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures.
  • Accurately identifies patients and labels specimens according to established protocols.
  • Processes, documents, and tracks specimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Ensures timely specimen collection, handling, and delivery to support efficient laboratory operations.
  • Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, physicians, and coworkers while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. New employees requiring CPR should have basic life support (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
