Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages following procedures and policies.
• Safely manage specimens from collection through initial processing and handling.
• Prioritize patient care and specimen collection per triage standards.
• Follow SOPM and laboratory policies for procedure compliance.
• Demonstrate proficiency in testing and collection procedures.
• Address problems by contacting appropriate service hotlines or representatives.
• Perform QA/QC activities to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Provide support to supervisor or Medical Technologist as needed.
• Maintain professional, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients and staff.
• Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. Under the supervision of the Laboratory Support Services Supervisor, the Phlebotomist is responsible for safely and accurately collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages while providing a positive and respectful patient experience.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in accuracy and quality, and thrives as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

What You'll Do

• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages in accordance with established procedures, policies, and accepted practices.
• Safely and accurately manage specimens from collection through the initial processing and handling stages.
• Prioritize patient care and specimen collection according to established triage standards.
• Follow all laboratory policies and procedures outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM).
• Demonstrate proficiency in required testing and specimen collection procedures.
• Identify and appropriately address problems or issues, including contacting service hotlines or representatives when needed.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities.
• Provide laboratory support to the Laboratory Support Services Supervisor or qualified Medical Technologist as requested.
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful approach with patients, families, and coworkers.
• Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York State driver's license with a driving record that meets FLH policy requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
