Job summary

The Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to collect lab specimens and perform basic tests, reporting results to the clinical team. This on-site role supports patient care in a rural, regional hospital setting.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, willingness to learn medical terminology, and the ability to obtain National Certification for Phlebotomy within one year.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to take classes.
  • Health care experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Must obtain National Certification for Phlebotomy within one year.
  • Willing to acquire additional skills through on‑the‑job training and/or outside classes.
  • Positive communication and customer service skills; ability to perform basic math and follow instructions.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Position Summary
  • Collect lab specimens and perform basic laboratory test and reporting of results.
Position Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to take classes
  • Health care experience preferred but not necessary
  • Must obtain National Certification for Phlebotomy within one (1) year
  • Previous computer use desirable, Bilingual Yupik/English preferred
  • Applicant must be willing to acquire additional skills through on the job training and or outside classes. Positive oral and written communication skills, positive customer service, Ability to add subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
