Job summary

Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska seeks a Medical Laboratory professional to perform tests and quality control under supervision. You will communicate results to physicians, nurses and patients, contributing to accurate diagnoses and patient care.

Requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field, board eligibility with planned certification within a year, and experience across chemistry, hematology, microbiology or blood bank.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment.
• One to three years of related experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology or microbiology or formal internship.
• Certification as MT by ASCP or CLS by NCA within one year of employment.
• Clinical laboratory instrumentation experience.
• Laboratory generalist capability.
• Capable of working independently and directing Medical Laboratory Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures under the direction of the laboratory manager.
• Communicate findings to physicians, nurses and patients as appropriate.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the laboratory manager, is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures and communication with physicians, nurses and patients.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a related filed required. Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment


• One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship


• Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment


• Clinical laboratory instrumentation


• Laboratory generalist


• Must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
