Job summary

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, seeks a phlebotomist to collect lab specimens, perform basic tests, and report results. The role operates 30 hours per week in St. Marys at the Subregional Center, serving a rural community across southwest Alaska.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, basic medical terminology knowledge, and is willing to obtain national phlebotomy certification within a year. Alaska Native preference applies under P.L. 93-638.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to take classes.
• Must obtain National Certification for Phlebotomy within one year.
• Applicant must be willing to acquire additional skills through on the job training and/or outside classes.
• Positive oral and written communication skills and customer service.

Position Summary:

• Collect lab specimens and perform basic laboratory test and reporting of results.

Position Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to take classes
• Health care experience preferred but not necessary
• Must obtain National Certification for Phlebotomy within one (1) year
• Applicant must be willing to acquire additional skills through on the job training and or outside classes.
• Positive oral and written communication skills, positive customer service,
• Ability to add subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
