Job summary

Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, AK is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform a wide range of laboratory tests, quality control procedures, and communicate results to physicians, nurses and patients.

Under the direction of the laboratory manager, you will maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensure compliance with ASCP/NCA certification timelines, and provide guidance to Medical Laboratory Assistants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Board eligibility by NCA or ASCP; board certification within 1 year.
• 1–3 years related experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology or microbiology.
• MT/CLS certification within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures.
• Communicate results to physicians, nurses and patients.
• Provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants when needed.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the laboratory manager, is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures and communication with physicians, nurses and patients.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a related filed required.
• Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment.
• Minimum Experience One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship.
• License, Certification, Registration Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment.
• Equipment/Tools Clinical laboratory instrumentation.
• Specialized Knowledge and Skills Laboratory generalist.
• Supervisory Responsibilities Must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
