Job summary

Grand Canyon University Inc. is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support learning excellence within The College of Theology. This is a face-to-face, part-time role on GCU’s Main Campus in Phoenix, designed to mentor students and collaborate with faculty.

You will help with tutoring, lesson prep, grading, and facilitating classroom activities, while reporting progress to faculty. The position offers up to 10 hours per week and a mission-driven university environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Must reside in Arizona and be available to work in person on GCU’s Main Campus.
• Completed coursework in Theology, Ministry, or Divinity, with a grade of B or higher.
• Strong communication and classroom support skills.
• Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with faculty to support classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Assist with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom facilitation.
• Hold weekly office hours to provide tutoring and academic support.
• Reinforce course concepts through one-on-one and group assistance.
• Support classroom management and proctor examinations.
• Observe and report student progress to faculty.
• Facilitate review sessions and supplemental instruction opportunities.
• Help create a collaborative and encouraging learning environment.
