Job summary

Holy Cross College invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy (joint with MCI) beginning July 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate philosophy courses on campus and at Westville Correctional Facility, participate in the Moreau College Initiative, and engage with the college community in service and governance.

A Ph.D. (or ABD) in Philosophy is required, with preference for prior college teaching and Catholic college experience.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD in Philosophy required.
• Previous college teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working in a Catholic college/university preferred.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Experience teaching incarcerated students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach eight undergraduate philosophy courses per year (24 credit-hours), four on main campus and four at Westville Correctional Facility.
• Conduct office hours on campus.
• Collaborate with Philosophy Program leadership, Humanities Department, and Moreau College Initiative.
• Participate in college activities, committees, and events.
