Job summary

Holy Cross College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy (tenure track) to begin July 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students, including those in the Moreau College Initiative at Westville Correctional Facility, and engage with courses in Catholic intellectual tradition.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. (or ABD) in Philosophy required.
• Previous college teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with incarcerated students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach eight undergraduate philosophy courses (24 credit-hours) per year, four on the main campus and four at Westville Correctional Facility.
• Conduct office hours on campus.
• Meet regularly with the Director of the Philosophy Program, the Chair of the Humanities Department, and the Director of the Moreau College Initiative.
• Participate in the life of the College by serving on administrative committees and attending important events.
• Assume leadership and service roles within the Philosophy Program, the Department of Humanities, and the College.
