Philosophy Adjunct (Fall 2026)

Location: Stafford, VA

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach courses in a classroom environment, addressing students with diverse academic backgrounds.
  • Conduct a daytime, in-person introductory course in Philosophy and Ethics.
  • Use learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) to facilitate teaching, assessment, and communication.
  • Maintain student engagement, including virtual support mechanisms in case of hybrid instruction.
  • Assist the college or state government during emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the specific discipline.
  • Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
  • Demonstrated ability to use relevant technology and learning management systems.
  • Commitment to student engagement in online teaching environments.
  • Technology capability (access to Wi‑Fi, computers) for remote teaching.
  • Ability to teach in multiple modalities, including virtual.
  • Completion of "Growing with Canvas" and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching.
  • Prior teaching and work experience in the field.
  • Experience with innovative online course development, synchronous and asynchronous modalities.
  • Willingness to learn and use artificial intelligence tools.
