Job summary

The J in St. Louis is seeking an Associate Director of J Philanthropy to lead philanthropy operations, campaigns, and planned giving initiatives.

This role focuses on leadership and execution, coordinating with the Philanthropy Team to advance fundraising priorities and ensure strong donor engagement. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least five years of progressively responsible nonprofit operations experience.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects with deadlines.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating teams.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills.
• Experience with donor databases and fundraising reporting systems, preferably Salesforce.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with senior leadership, volunteers, donors.
• Experience in capital campaigns, endowment development, planned giving, or nonprofit fundraising is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Philanthropy Operations staff and ensure best practices in processes.
• Manage department expense budget and coordinate revenue budget with the Chief Philanthropy Officer.
• Work with the CEO to manage the portfolio and keep moves on track.
• Continue growth of annual giving society with stewardship and events.
• Responsible for capital and endowment campaign management and day-to-day project work.
• Develop campaign work plans with timelines, milestones, deliverables and progress reporting.
• Help hire consultants for feasibility studies and manage their needs.
• Lead the development and implementation of a strategic planned giving program.
• Coordinate planned giving communications, donor education, and engagement activities.
• Assist the Special Events Manager and Philanthropy Team as needed for annual fundraising events.
