Job summary

UNICEF USA is seeking a Philanthropy Officer to identify, cultivate, and solicit high-net-worth donors for its major gifts program. You will manage a portfolio of 100-150 donors and prospects, aiming for five- and six-figure gifts, with dual focus on stewardship and qualification.

Reporting to the Senior Managing Director, you will collaborate across units, meet KPIs, maintain donor records, and travel domestically and occasionally internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5–7 years’ relevant fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts
  • Self-motivated professional with a proven success record in fundraising
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office and experience with fundraising databases
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to assist with all tasks to support a small regional team
  • Ability to lead internal and external meetings
  • Experience managing frontline fundraisers is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and enthusiastic teamwork
  • Commitment to international humanitarian relief and UNICEF USA mission
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy Insight team on portfolio management
  • Meet individual KPIs
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-150 donors and prospects with an average annual giving capacity of $25K or higher, dedicating approximately 50% to steward a one-to-many portfolio and 50% to qualification efforts from a pool of managed new leads
  • Develop and execute detailed strategies for top donors and prospects; securing five- and six-figure gifts, multi-year gifts, and blended gifts
  • Shape and edit donor correspondences such as letters, emails, funding proposals, and reports
  • Maintain accurate donor outreach and solicitation plans through regular upkeep of donor database
  • Work collaboratively with UNICEF USA business units designed to assist the major giving program
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Position Description

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years’ relevant work experience and proven track record of securing five and six-figure gifts
  • Must be a self-motivated professional with a proven success record in fundraising
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and
  • strong experience using a fundraising database
  • Keen attention to detail, flexibility in high-pressure situations and the willingness to assist with all
  • tasks needed to ensure the success of a small regional team
  • Ability to effectively lead internal and external meetings
  • Experience managing frontline fundraisers a plus
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, have confidence, take initiative and be an enthusiastic team

Preferences
  • Familiarity with CRM technologies
  • Experience with international development or humanitarian organizations a plus

  • Proficiency in transforming, translating, and communicating data-based information clearly to end users.
  • Drives own learning and takes initiative towards meeting annual professional development goals.
  • Ability to deal with highly sensitive information, maintain confidentiality, and exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion.
  • Understands key constituent, prospect, and proposal data elements (assignments, ratings, stages, etc.) as a whole. Ability to utilize this knowledge in a relational context, understanding and proactively accounting for the impact of updates on other prospect data points.
