The Philanthropy Officer works to fulfill the goals of the assigned unit/s by developing and executing strategies to secure major gifts from donors and prospects. Core responsibilities:* Identifies prospective donors and funding sources, in conjunction with faculty and staff, and develops cultivation and solicitation plans, involving the aforementioned groups and volunteers, as appropriate.* Ensures regular communications and stewardship with donors, including re-solicitations, proper acknowledgement of gifts and pledge payments, reporting, visiting, and providing regular information on the progress of the departments.* Assists donors, prospects and other select individuals with appointments, scheduling and other necessary facilitation through clinical encounters.* Maintains communication with colleagues in medical departments, other schools and central development to ensure effective collaborations and synergy in achieving the university’s key fundraising goals and objectives.* Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the assigned department’s needs, both general and specific to various programs and departments.* Documents all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in Raiser’s Edge and other appropriate donor files.* Demonstrates significant and continuous progress toward campaign or multi-year project goals.* Reaches departmental yearly cash fundraising goals (team goal).* Makes an appropriate amount of substantive cultivation and solicitation actions toward closing gifts.* Reaches individual yearly goals for “number and amounts solicited” and “number and amounts funded.” Reaches additional goals as acting as a collaborator.* Manages an appropriate number of active prospects and active proposals.* Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. **This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.** **Core Qualifications:*** Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required* Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.* Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.* Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.* Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. ***Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.***The University of Miami is recognized as one of the nation’s premier research institutions and academic health systems and is among the largest employers in South Florida.With more than 20,000 faculty and staff, the University is committed to excellence and guided by a mission to positively impact the lives of students, patients, and communities locally and globally.We are dedicated to fostering a culture where every individual feels valued and empowered to contribute meaningfully.
